Pre-natal Massage
Pregnancy and birth is a sacred and transformative time.
Touch therapy can be a tremendous support during the numerous changes
that occur not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and
spiritually as well. Even when change is a welcome occurrence, it can
come with challenges and anxiety that is both natural and normal.
During this time of heightened concern for you and your baby's health
& wellbeing, massage is a natural, safe, and intelligent modality
to incorporate into your health care plan on a consistent basis.
Massage therapy is an effective way of relieving the common aches and
pains associated with pregnancy including back pain, leg cramps, and
headaches. Even more importantly, it has been shown to improve labor
outcomes and newborn health.

Massage therapy during pregnancy has been shown to reduce stress & promote relaxation. Prenatal relaxation can:
- Enhance immune function
- Reduce maternal blood pressure, heart, and respiratory rate
- Reduce fear & anxiety
- Reduce labor time & complications
- Increase uterine blood supply to enhance fetal health
Along with stress reduction, pre-natal massage therapy:
- Reduces swelling
- Relieves varicose veins
- Increases blood & lymph circulation
Every
system in the body benefits from the appropriate use of massage, and
every system is helping in the creation of that precious little baby.
As a certified pre-natal massage specialist, I have learned specific
techniques to benefit expectant mothers and their babies during
pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. I have also learned the
important precautions and modifications that must be taken throughout
the various stages of pregnancy.
With all of my clients, I always welcome feedback, so
that I can find the appropriate level of depth & pressure that is
simultaneously gentle and effective. This becomes essential during
pregnancy when sensitivity can vary widely from one session to the
next. You can expect that at every session we will spend some time
beforehand talking about how you are feeling and what your goals are
for that day, recognizing that your needs may shift as your body
continues to grow and change daily. It is my honor to support you
during this time of many changes. |
